Preventing Your Portable Basketball Hoop from Getting Stolen
Many people purchase portable basketball systems because they just can’t afford the permanent in-ground versions. One of the major disadvantages of having a system that can be mobile is the fact that it can be easily stolen if it has not been secured.
What you need to do is deter any potential thieves by making it as difficult as possible for them to steal your property. Here are some options to help give you an idea of what can be done.
I personally think the best thing to do if first go out and buy a high quality tensile chain. Make sure it is long enough to wrap around the whole basketball hoop a couple of times. With this you also need a very tough padlock. After you have finished with your basketball game all you need to do is wrap the chain around the unit and secure it to a permanent base in the ground.
To make things even more secure you could even add a few sand bags to the base of the system to make the whole thing almost impossible to move.
